Sutton Barcelona: Dress Code for Men & Women

Sutton has one of the strictest dress codes in Barcelona. It is an upscale club in the Eixample district with a stylish crowd and a door policy that regularly turns people away – even if they are on the guest list.
Here is exactly what to wear and what to avoid at Sutton, for both men and women.
General rules
Sutton’s dress code is smart and elegant. Dress like you are going to a high-end cocktail bar, not a beach or a casual bar.
- Wednesdays and Thursdays: More relaxed. A plain fitted t-shirt can work, but still no flip-flops or shorts.
- Fridays and Saturdays: Strict. Collared shirt expected for men. The door team is selective.
Free entry with the Barceloning guest list
Sutton usually charges 15€–30€ at the door. You can enter for free by signing up to the Barceloning guest list:
- Wednesdays: Free entry until 2:00 (casual less-strict dress code)
- Thursdays: Free entry until 1:00 (casual less-strict dress code)
- Fridays: Free entry until 1:00 (strict smart and elegant dress code)
- Saturdays: Free entry until 1:00 (strict smart and elegant dress code)
Signing up requires no account and takes less than 30 seconds.
Arrive before the cutoff time. We recommend getting there early on weekends – the line gets long and once the club hits capacity, even well-dressed guests can be turned away.

The door is stricter for men. This is where most rejections happen.
What works:
- Collared shirts, button-downs, or neat polos
- Well-fitted long trousers (no baggy or skinny jeans)
- Closed shoes – leather sneakers, boots, or dress shoes
- Clean, well-groomed appearance
- Blazer is a plus but not necessary
What will get you turned away:
- Sportswear of any kind
- Caps or baseball hats
- Very skinny or baggy pants
- Shorts
- Sandals or flip-flops
- Graphic t-shirts
- Ripped clothing
- Hoodies or sweatpants
- Cargo pants or camo patterns
You can also contact Barceloning for VIP services and bottles at Sutton. Remember that the dress code for the VIP section is usually more strict.
Women’s Dress Code at Sutton
Women have more flexibility, but Sutton still expects effort.
What works:
- Stylish dresses, jumpsuits, or coordinated sets
- Heeled shoes, elegant flats, or boots
- Party-ready styling – natural or bold looks both work if put together
- Statement accessories
What will get you turned away:
- Flip-flops
- Hoodies or sweatpants
- Graphic t-shirts
- Denim shorts
- Beachwear
- Clothing that is excessively revealing without being styled
What Happens If You Don’t Follow the Dress Code?
You will be denied entry. The bouncers at Sutton are strict and selective. Being turned away is common, especially for men in sporty outfits or groups that look too casual.
This applies even if your name is on the guest list. The guest list gives you free entry – it does not override the door policy.
Sutton’s Crowd and Atmosphere
Sutton attracts a fashionable, international crowd – Erasmus students, young professionals, and well-dressed locals. The music is usually a mix of commercial house, reggaeton, and international hits depending on the event.
The vibe is polished. Dress accordingly.

Clubs with a Less Strict Dress Code
If Sutton’s dress code feels like too much, these clubs are more relaxed – especially during the week:
- Jamboree Dance Club: Free entry until 2:30 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays (only until 2:00) and Sundays
- La Fira Casanova: Free entry on Fridays and Saturdays – (see all upcoming parties at Fira Casanova)
- Otto Zutz: Free entry until 1:00 on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays
