Opium Barcelona: Dress Code for Men and Women

Summary
Opium sits on the Barceloneta beachfront, but the dress code is not beach-club casual. It is modern and put-together: city wear, not flip-flops or beach outfits. Monday to Thursday and Sunday the door is a bit softer; Friday and Saturday, especially for all-male groups, you need to dress up.
Even with the Barceloning guest list you can be turned away if you look too casual. With the list you can skip the usual 20-30 € door charge Sunday through Thursday if you arrive before the cutoff (typically 1:00 AM). Friday and Saturday usually mean a discounted ticket, not free entry. The guest list does not guarantee entry.
Opium is on the Barceloneta promenade, next to Shoko on the Olympic Port. The location feels relaxed, but security at the door is not. Many rejections for shorts, sandals, or sportswear, even if you are on the list.
General rules
The Opium Barcelona dress code is modern and fashionable. Think stylish city wear, not beachwear.
- Monday to Thursday and Sunday: More relaxed, but a minimum level of effort is still expected
- Friday and Saturday: Stricter. Dress up, especially if you are in an all-male group
Men’s dress code at Opium
The door is stricter for men. Many get turned away for outfits that are too casual, too sporty, or too tourist-y.
What works:
- Button-down shirts, polos, or fitted tees (plain or minimal branding)
- Long trousers: no rips, no distressing, no baggy or skinny jeans
- Clean leather sneakers or smart shoes
- Blazer or bomber jacket (optional, but a plus)
What will get you turned away:
- Flip-flops, sandals, or beachwear
- Sleeveless shirts or tank tops
- Athletic wear or sports jerseys
- Ripped jeans or camo pants
- Shorts (especially on weekends)
- Caps or baseball hats
- Hoodies
The VIP section dress code is usually stricter. Contact Barceloning for VIP tables and bottle service at Opium.

Women’s dress code at Opium
Women have more flexibility at the door, but Opium is still a high-energy, stylish venue. Look party-ready, not like you are coming from the beach.
What works:
- Dresses, jumpsuits, or matching sets
- Elegant tops with fitted pants or skirts
- Heels, boots, or trendy flats
- Accessories and party makeup
What will get you turned away:
- Flip-flops or beach sandals
- Denim shorts (especially ripped or distressed)
- Hoodies or workout clothes
- Bikinis, cover-ups, or beach-style outfits

What happens if you do not dress right?
You will be turned away at the door, even if you are on the guest list. This is especially common for large all-male groups, tourists in shorts, or anyone who looks like they did not plan ahead.
If you are unsure, be slightly overdressed rather than underdressed.
Free entry with the Barceloning guest list
Opium usually charges 20-30 € at the door. You can skip the cover by signing up to the Barceloning guest list:
- Sunday: Free until 1:00 AM (check the club page)
- Monday: Free until 1:00 AM
- Tuesday: Free until 1:00 AM
- Wednesday: Free until 1:00 AM
- Thursday: Free until 1:00 AM
- Friday: Discounted ticket (not free). Stricter dress code.
- Saturday: Discounted ticket (not free). Stricter dress code.
Arrive before the cutoff and follow the dress code. The guest list does not override the door policy.

Opium crowd and vibe
Expect a mix of international visitors, well-dressed locals, and large party groups. The music is usually commercial house, reggaeton, and hip-hop depending on the night. Weekends in summer are the busiest.

- La Fira Casanova: free entry on Thu, Fri, Sat
