Best Clubs for Erasmus and International Students in Barcelona

Barcelona has dozens of clubs, but not all of them work for 18-year-old students. Some are 23+. Some have strict dress codes. Some charge full price at the door.

Here is which clubs actually fit Erasmus and international students — age limits, guest list cutoffs, dress codes, and which nights to target.

How student nightlife works in Barcelona

Before the club list, a few rules.

Guest list = free or discount. Sign up takes 30 seconds. No app, no account. Arrive before the cutoff time. Being on the list does not guarantee entry – dress code and door policy still apply. For the full breakdown, see our detailed blog Free Entry at Jamboree Barcelona: Guest List Guide

Cutoff times matter. Free entry until 1:00 or 1:30 means exactly that. Show up at 1:45 and you pay full price (typically 15–20€).

Age limits vary by club and by night. Sutton is 18+ on Wednesday only; Thursday 21+, Friday and Saturday 23+. Negro Rojo is 23+ (Thursday 21+). W Hotel and Bling Bling are 21+ and 23+ respectively.

Thursday is loosely “student night” – dress codes relax across the city.

Wednesday at Sutton is explicitly Erasmus night. 18+, casual dress code, free until 1:30. The only night at Sutton where students can get in.

Best clubs for Erasmus and international students

These clubs let you in at 18, have relaxed or moderate dress codes, and offer free entry with the guest list before the cutoff.

Free until 1:30, €3 discount until 2:00. Latin and commercial music. Carrer de Villarroel, 216, Eixample.

Top pick if your group is unsure about dress code. Easiest door for casual outfits.

Student nights – when to go

Wednesday. Sutton is Erasmus night – 18+, casual dress, free until 1:30. The only night at Sutton for students. Other 18+ clubs (La Fira, Jamboree, Colors, Otto Zutz) are also good. Dress codes are relaxed.

Thursday. Loosely “student night” across the city. Dress codes relax everywhere. Sutton allows men without collared shirt on Thursday – but age is 21+. All 18+ clubs on this list are good options. Jamboree has the latest cutoff (2:30).

Friday and Saturday. Strictest nights. Dress codes tighten. Lines longer. Opium and Shoko offer a discount, not free entry, on weekends. La Fira, Colors, Otto Zutz, Downtown, Costa Breve, La Biblio still have free guest lists – but dress code is slightly stricter. Sutton, W Hotel, Bling Bling, Negro Rojo: 21+ or 23+ only. Not for most Erasmus students.

Clubs to avoid if you are under 21 or 23

Save these for when you are older – or if your whole group is 21+ or 23+.

  • Sutton – Thursday 21+, Friday and Saturday 23+. Only Wednesday is 18+.
  • Negro Rojo – 23+ (Thursday 21+). No guest list Friday. More polished, older crowd.
  • W Hotel (Noxe) – 21+.
  • Bling Bling – 23+. No guest list at all.
  • G Spot – 23+. Guest list Thursdays only.

Budget tips for students

  • Sign up to the guest list. Free entry before cutoff beats 15-20€ at the door.
  • Arrive before the cutoff. The clock is real.
  • Wednesday and Thursday = best value. More relaxed dress codes, free entry at most clubs.
  • Jamboree has the latest cutoff (2:30 Sun–Thu) – good if you are running late.
  • La Fira Villarroel has the longest discount window (until 2:00) if you miss the free cutoff.
  • Bring valid photo ID. Every club checks.

Wrap-up

Barcelona has plenty of clubs that work for 18-year-old students. Sign up to the guest list, arrive before the cutoff, and pick the right night – Wednesday for Sutton, Thursday for relaxed dress codes everywhere.
